When Adam finally escapes from his abusive father, he is totally lost. Unsure of how to act or where to go in the outside world, streetwise Billy befriends the teenager and shows him the ropes of his world. Delving into the seedy underbelly of human nature, it throws a spotlight on some harsh and confronting subject matter.
I do agree with other reviewers who have noted the blurb does give away an important part of the storyline and as such it is not really a suspenseful book. The storyline moves forward at a good pace and kept me engaged but there were no great shocks as it moved towards its conclusion.
Overall this is a compelling read and a realistic look at a side of humanity most of us would rather not know about.
