The story moves between the past and present with Audrey using photographs, local gossip and a diary to try and piece together just how the tragic events unfolded. The characters are well developed and the descriptions of the surrounding countryside are vivid and realistic. I loved the Queensland setting and the small community that grows on you as you read.
I loved the mystery and suspense of Thornwood House. There are many twists and turns in the plot that draw you deeper and deeper into the story and have you looking over your shoulder at times (especially late at night!).
I found the style of this quite similar to Kate Morton and am very much looking forward to Anna Romer's next book.
