For the challenge this year I read 30 books by Australian Women Writers and reviewed 22. There were a good smattering of new authors amongst my books read/reviewed and I look forward to their future titles. I also loved revisiting some of my favourite authors and devouring their new works as well.
Participating in this challenge has truly altered the shape of my reading. Just a few years ago I would have struggled to read more than two or three Australian authors per year - now I read around 80% Australian titles. I love the change and hope to continue this trend in the future.
My favourite fiction titles this year have been Blood Secret by Jaye Ford, Dark Horse by Honey Brown and If I Should Lose You by Natasha Lester. My favourite non-fiction was Lindy Chamberlain's autobiography Through My Eyes. Although this title was originally published almost 20 years ago, I really connected with her story and could truly feel the incredible hearbreak she suffered at the loss of her baby daughter.
Although I didn't get through quite as many titles as I hoped (due to life getting in the way), I am happy with my result and look forward to doing it all again in 2014.
