Great Aussie Reads is dedicated to promoting and celebrating the huge (and growing) number of Australian writers out there who are producing amazing fiction and non-fiction books of all types and genres. Unfortunately there are very few physical bookshops around that actively promote our home-grown authors (or even have an Australian authors section), so this site aims to make the reading public aware of just what is out there. It is not an on-line bookstore, rather it provides information about books so you can either follow links to purchase books on-line or enquire at your local bookshop or library about particular titles that interest you. We generally only list one book per author (unless they write across different genres), but once you follow the links provided you will be able to see if they have further titles available.
As long as you have the authors name and book title, most
bookshops should be able to order it in for you. Don't be afraid to ask
- the more demand there is from customers, the more likely bookshops
are to stock local authors. Public libraries also encourage suggestions
for books to purchase - check with your local library.
Books are grouped into categories for your convenience, so please have a look around and find a book (or several) that interest you. Take a chance on a new author (or somebody unknown to you) and be pleasantly surprised.
